Level 3 evacuations ordered for SW Redmond fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities announced that a fire spanning approximately eight acres has spurred evacuations in Southwest Redmond, Oregon, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Just after 6 p.m., the sheriff’s office said the following addresses were given a Level 3 “Go Now” order: 4831 SW Obsidian Avenue, 4723 SW Obsidian Avenue, 4635 SW Obsidian Avenue, 4584 SW Obsidian Avenue, and 4574 SW Lava Avenue.

A Level 1 “Be Ready” order was placed for the area west of Southwest Helmholtz, south of Southwest Obsidian Avenue, and east of SW 55th Place south along the COI ditch to Southwest Helmholtz to Southwest Wickiup Avenue, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said Highland Baptist Church is set up as a temporary evacuation point.

It’s unclear what started the fire at this time.
