PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Wednesday marked another bad day for air quality in the Portland metro area and across Oregon as wildfires fueled by dry winds continue to rage.

Several spots along the Oregon coast are reporting good air quality Wednesday morning, including Tillamook & Coos Bay, while unhealthy air is still sitting in the Portland metro area and valley.
The extended forecast calls for more showers cool temperatures and a chance for thunderstorms by late week. Multiple waves of rain and even the return of smoke is possible throughout the week. It shouldn’t be nearly as dense as what we have experienced this week.
With low air quality conditions across the state, experts recommend keeping windows and doors closed. HVAC systems with fresh air intake should be set to its “recirculate mode” or have its outdoor intake damper closed. Window air conditioning units should also have a closed outdoor air damper.
