PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 24-year-old woman accused of being part of a metro-wide organized retail crime ring, is now accused of using wire cutters to cause serious physical injury to one of her co-defendants in the theft ring.
Derrisha Lynay Sutton was being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on two cases. The first case, which KOIN 6 News first reported on in September, accuses her of being involved in a retail theft ring that stole clothing from local stores. The group is accused of stealing more than $50,000 in apparel and personal goods.
The second case, which was filed in late January, accuses her of stabbing Johnkia Jackson with a set of wire cutters.
Johnkia Jackson, records show, is also linked to the organized retail theft investigation and is facing a grand jury indictment. Records also show that Sutton tried to use a motor vehicle to cause serious physical injury to another suspect linked to the crime ring, Joccrystal Jackson.
The assault of Johnkia Jackson and attempted assault of Joccrystal Jackson and two others happened in late December.
The case was investigated by the Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team and Assault Detail.
Sutton is now being held in the Washington County Jail in Hillsboro on unrelated charges.
