City commissioner, DA discuss return of Portland … Portland City Councilman and Commissioner of Public Safety Rene Gonzalez said that he will spend the next three months considering ways to reestablish a municipal court in Portland in hopes of prosecuting more misdemeanor crimes, which he said are going mostly unprosecuted by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
City Council sets goals for charter transition, initiates … The Portland City Council unanimously approved a resolution on Feb. 2 that directs the city’s chief administrative officer Michael Jordan to develop a plan for carrying out the drastic changes that Portland voters agreed to make to the city’s charter in November. The resolution also instructs city commissioners to develop 90-day action plans for their respective service districts in order to help these districts prepare for the change in government coming in 2025.

The conveyance of the Fairfield Apartments was authorized on the grounds that the affordable-housing provider will restore the property to meet modern living standards for the extremely low-income residents that occupy the building’s 75 permanent supportive-housing units.
