Big Game Bound: Adam Schefter makes his picks

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re heading down the road to Atlanta and one week closer to The Big Game.

Anthony “AC” Calhoun is talking all the major headlines around the NFL leading up to Super Bowl LIII.

This week, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter joins AC to discuss the playoff picture and MVP candidates.

Hunt cut, McCarthy fired

The Kansas City Chiefs recently cut star running back Kareem Hunt. Video surfaced of him assaulting a woman in a hotel in Cleveland.

“It’s just brutal to watch that whole entire incident,” Schefter said.

Additionally, the Green Bay Packers fired Head Coach Mike McCarthy. It was the first time the Packers had ever fired a coach during the season.

“It just never ends in this league,” Schefter said.

MVP candidates

AC and Adam Schefter also took a look at likely MVP candidates.

Discussed on the show:

Schefter identified Brees as his favorite.

“I don’t think Drew Brees has ever played at a higher level,” Schefter said. “If nothing else, he’s never won the award. There’s something of a ‘lifetime achievement’ in giving him the MVP.”

Schefter also called Mahomes “like a young Brett Favre.”

“If you were starting your franchise today with one single player in the entire NFL, right now, you might pick Patrick Mahomes over anybody,” Schefter said.

The Man I Never Met

AC also asked Adam about his new book.

The Man I Never Met is about his wife’s late husband, Joe Maio, who died on 9/11.

“This book was done as a tribute to Joe,” Schefter said.

The book is available on Amazon.
