Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos shares plan for unspent housing funds

This week, Portland City Council considered a resolution to use $21 million in unspent funds to help people struggling to afford rent, focused on preventing homelessness. The unspent money from within the Portland Housing Bureau was discovered as part of an accounting error. Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos - who represents east Portland in District 1 - introduced the resolution, as Chair of the Housing and Homelessness Committee. Councilor Avalos returned to Eye on Northwest Politics to talk about how her plan could help renters and reduce homelessness.
