PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The tribute wall at the Hollywood Transit Center in honor of the victims of the May 26, 2017, MAX attack will be spearheaded by Sarah Farahat.
She will lead a team of artists to turn 2,000 feet of wall at the transit center into a tribute like the one full of messages of love that grew on the walls in the days after the attack.
“I am deeply honored that the committee and TriMet have entrusted this project into our care,” Farahat said in a press release. “I look forward to sharing more about the project in the coming weeks after speaking in depth with the review committee.”
A second tribute, a commemorative plaque by local designer John Laursen, will be installed on the anniversary of the attack.
The families affected by the attack have and will be involved with the process of creating the tributes.
Farahat is an Egyptian American artist and educator with degrees from Occidental College in Los Angeles, Pacific Northwest College or Art in Portland and California College in San Francisco.
