PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The body that was recovered 10 days ago was identified as 12-year-old Ciera Hart, officials said Tuesday.
On April 7, a body of what appeared to be an African American female was recovered from the Pacific Ocean in the area of Juan Creek and Highway 1 in Westport, California.
Until Tuesday, Ciera was considered to still be missing along with her 2 siblings — 15-year-old Devonte and 16-year-old Hannah. However, officials previously said that they believed all 6 children were in the car at the time of the fatal crash.
Jennifer and Sarah Hart, along with 3 of their adopted children — Markis, Jeremiah and Abigal — were found dead after their SUV went over a cliff on March 26.
The autopsy results including blood alcohol and toxicology analysis for Ciera are pending.
On Friday, California Patrol Capt. Bruce Carpenter said that toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of .102. Toxicology tests also found that her wife Sarah and two of their children had “a significant amount” of an ingredient commonly found in the allergy drug Benadryl, which can make people sleepy.
