PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Hillsboro Hops boast five Northwest League all-stars as the team pushes for its sixth straight playoff appearance.
The league released its midseason all-star roster on Wednesday, which included pitchers Luis Frias and Marcos Tineo, outfielders Kristian Robinson and Jesus Marriaga and infielder Steven Leyton.
Frias, 21, was selected as the starting pitcher. He leads the league in strikeouts with 72, and ranks second in ERA at 1.99. Robinson leads the league with 34 RBI and his nine home runs is good enough for second in the league.
Northwest League managers, coaches and front-office staff choose the all-star players. The Northwest League will face all-stars from the Pioneer League in the All-Star Game set for Tuesday, August 6, at Memorial Stadium in Boise, Idaho.
