BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — A very brazen Beaverton coyote has been making its way through neighborhoods in broad daylight, showing little fear of people.

A KOIN 6 News viewer sent footage of the animal, first spotted it on SW Murray Boulevard. They say it was walking around nonchalantly, like a dog. The viewer also spotted it eating a squirrel on SW Trillium Lane.
Coyotes are typically nocturnal and are fearful of people.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife say if the coyotes aren’t being aggressive, just give them space. However, when asked about this particular coyote caught on camera, Rick Swartz with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says it may become a problem.
“Normally, the behavior you describe sounds like an animal that’s been habituated. That becomes a problem for people and no, you don’t want an animal habituated, around in your neighborhood so its useful to know or to observe if the animal is around day after day holding its ground or if its just passing through,” Swartz said.
