PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Neighbors woke up Thursday morning to find at least 43 cars with smashed windows in Northwest Portland.

Vandals went up and down streets shooting the cars with either a BB or pellet gun, according to authorities.

Many of the cars were egged and had broken windows, but authorities said nothing was reported stolen.

Police said they received the first report of vandalized car around 2:30 a.m. in the 600 block of NW MacLeay Rd.

When they arrived, they found a car with a broken window. They didn’t find a suspect during their search.

Officers received another vandalism report at 8:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of NW Westover Rd.

Officers initially said they received reports of 20 vandalized cars, but that number quickly jumped to 43 and could continue to rise.

Surveillance video from a resident shows a car passing by 2 different times — once at 2:30 a.m. and another time at 3:37 a.m. — firing rounds of either BBs or pellets.

Police are still looking for the suspect or suspects.
