PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person is dead after escaping a house fire in Gresham early Friday morning, fire officials said.
The home on Northeast Couch Street and Northeast 176th Avenue caught fire shortly after 3 a.m. Shortly after Gresham Fire & Rescue arrived, the blaze was upgraded to a 2nd alarm.
Fire officials said one person was taken to a hospital but ultimately died. No other injuries were reported.
Video of the scene shows flames shooting through the roof while heavy smoke billows from the home.
Investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
