WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — Former State Rep. Matt Wingard, who resigned his leadership role in 2012 over a sex scandal, announced he is running for the seat again.
The Republican resigned from his party post after a former aide said he tried to pressure her into having sex. There were also allegations he provided alcohol to minors. After a police investigation the charges were dropped.
Wingard, who called it “a political smear,” withdrew from his re-election race in 2012.
He hopes to reclaim the House District 26 seat again.
