RIDGEFIELD, Wash. (KOIN) — Three young men have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking a Ridgefield grandfather on Saturday afternoon.

One of the suspects — 21-year-old Miccah McDowell — is the victim’s step-grandson.

According to court documents, McDowell gave his grandfather a hug just before the attack. The victim told investigators two men then struck him with guns as his step-grandson walked away. Afterward, the men allegedly forced the victim into his bedroom.

“They assaulted him both physically, stabbed him and he was also shot,” Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brent Waddell said.

Police were initially called to the victim’s home because a passerby noticed a car on fire in the driveway. Shortly after that call, the victim’s wife returned home and went into her home with a neighbor. Together, they found her husband badly hurt in the master bedroom shower. According to court documents, he told them, “Miccah did this.”

Deputies arrived and the victim was quickly taken to a hospital by Light Flight in critical condition. He was stabbed 15 times, according to court documents.

Court documents also show that the house smelled like gasoline. Deputies found several small fires and also noted shell casings close to where the victim was found.

Several rooms had been ransacked and two safes were found open.

Investigators said the suspects made off with guns, jewelry, money and the grandfather’s car. The car that was found on fire belonged to his step-grandson.

McDowell was arrested on Sunday. During an interview, detectives said he admitted to planning the robbery of his grandparents. The victim’s wife told authorities that McDowell had recently gotten in trouble with the law and borrowed $1,500 from them to pay for legal fees.

On Monday, 20-year-old Hayden Brewer — who was allegedly wearing the victim’s Rolex watch — was also arrested. Authorities then arrested the third suspect, 20-year-old Sion Wilson, on Tuesday.

“So right now, we are not actively looking for anybody else and to our knowledge, there are no other suspects,” Waddell said. “The detectives are continuing their investigation, tying up loose ends and doing follow-up investigations.”

All three men are facing multiple charges including attempted murder, arson and robbery.

As of Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said the victim remains in serious condition.
