PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 21-year-old man who is already facing a five page-indictment when it comes to a series of robberies and assaults is now facing a new 21-count indictment that accuses him of promoting and compelling prostitution.

In late January, detectives with the Portland Police Bureau arrested Darren D. Davis. Since then he has remained in custody at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail.

At the time of his arrest, Davis told court staff that he was living at a hotel on Northeast 82nd Avenue. He was originally charged with three counts of second-degree robbery. The case was presented to a Multnomah County grand jury.

The grand jury charged Davis with 16 counts of second-degree robbery, one count of fourth-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of first-degree assault. According to court records, police have identified eight separate victims. The robberies all occurred between August and September 2015.

Davis has since entered a not guilty plea and is pending trial on the case.

On Tuesday, a grand jury issued a 21-count indictment that charges him with seven counts of compelling prostitution and 14 counts of promoting prostitution. The allegations are said to have occurred between July 2015 and January 2016, according to the indictment.

Davis is scheduled to be arraigned on the new indictment on Wednesday at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
