PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The alleged driver of a stolen Ford Expedition is in custody after ramming a police car before slamming into a passing vehicle and running away.

Dajuan Marcellus Mayo is facing 7 charges for the incident that happened at SE 127th and Stark Street just after midnight Monday.

At that time, a Portland police officer spotted the stolen Ford backed into a parking spot. The officer pulled in front of the Expedition, but the driver sped forward, hit the police car and took off.

But as he sped off the driver hit another car on Stark Street. Mayo allegedly ran off but was found during a search by officers.

The 7 charges Mayo faces are 2nd-degree assault, attempt to elude by vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, failure to perform the duties of a driver (felony hit-and-run) and reckless driving. He also faces possession of meth and heroin, plus a number of other outstanding warrants.

Both the PPB officer and the driver of the second car were treated for minor injuries.
