PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – A woman has filed a $2 million dollar lawsuit against a local hospital following her claims of negligence and battery.

The civil complaint, filed on Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court, names Legacy Meridian Park Hospital, Legacy Health, and Echo Vision as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, in Tualatin, on May 22, 2015 to undergo an echocardiogram. A male sonographer reportedly exposed and “made repeated contact with (the) plaintiff’s breasts, all for the purpose of providing himself sexual gratification,” according to the complaint.

The woman’s attorney, Gregory Kafoury, said the sonographer, without warning, lifted her gown and touched her.

In court documents, attorneys assert the hospital and Echo Vision was negligent by failing to establish and communicate rules about exposure, and contact, of patients’ private body parts without notice or consent. The claim also asserts that the defendants maintained “a policy of ignoring, failing to adequately investigate, tolerating, and/or concealing sex abuse and/or complaints of sexual abuse of agents and/or employees.”

Legacy Health declined to comment on Wednesday due to the pending litigation. Attempts to reach Echo Vision and its parent company were unsuccessful.
