ESTACADA, Ore. (KOIN) — Deputies are looking for a man accused of trying to abduct a 13-year-old girl while she was playing at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the attempted abduction happened on Tuesday shortly before 7 p.m.

Deputies released a sketch of the man and said he’s a white man with a beard and short brown hair. He’s believed to be between the ages of 30-40, 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8 with an average build. He was wearing a red and black plaid shirt with blue jeans and was driving a red two-door pickup.

Some campers who spoke with KOIN 6 News said police were canvassing the park Tuesday night just before dark looking for the suspect.

Park visitor Christine Slocum said it’s good to know police are looking for the suspicious man.

“It’s something you can keep in the back of your mind at all times. I think especially as women we are a little more conscientious about things like that for yourself and other people in the community,” she said.

Another visitor, Paige Carpenter, said these issues seem to come up more in the summer “because we are all outdoors, you know. Especially with these young girls we want to make sure we keep an eye out for them, all help each other.”
