PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Spirit set sail Wednesday night on a blues-themed cruise, officially kicking off the 32nd annual Waterfront Blues Festival.

Some of the acts set to perform at the festival were onboard the iconic vessel for the Hoodoo Moon Cruise.

Portland blues legend Curtis Salgado helped get the party started. Jim Belushi and Lucious Spiller were there, too, along with a new voice: 16-year-old Sarah Grace from “The Voice.”

“It’s a long, slow climb in the music industry and it’s just really cool to be at the point I’m at,” Grace said.

The big stages along Tom McCall Waterfront Park open on the Fourth of July.

The 4-day event at Tom McCall Waterfront Park will again feature the Portland Sunshine Division to run the event’s food drives.

Once again, KOIN TV is a major sponsor of the Waterfront Blues Festival, along with KGON Radio, The Oregonian and Buick GMC of Beaverton.
