Officers said they heard and saw what they believed to be a shooting near North Houghton Street and North Dwight Avenue at about 3:15 a.m.

A neighbor told KOIN 6 News he awoke to the sound of several loud shots, followed by car tires screeching, then sirens. He said the neighborhood is typically quiet but has seen two shootings in the past month.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, someone potentially involved in a shooting ran into a garage. PPB’s Special Emergency Reaction Team conducted a lengthy stand-off at the house and searched the surrounding area.

SERT officers searched the house and arrested 20-year-old Claud J. Pierce on three counts of 1st-degree attempted murder, 1st-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police later announced that they talked to a man who drove away from the scene who was shot and seriously injured. He is expected to recover. Police said they also talked to another victim who was shot at but unhurt.

Officers said they found a gun at the scene.
