PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Winter in the Pacific Northwest this year has been uncharacteristically mild and it’s taking a toll on some local businesses.

Duck hunters, for example, aren’t seeing many ducks this year because the weather isn’t cold enough to drive them inland from the coast.

Eric Strand, the owner of Oregon-based S2 Outfitters, said the nicer it is outside, the worse it is for business. Warmer-than-normal temperatures and a lack of rainfall this fall and winter has contributed to a slow duck hunting season.
