VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A 49-year-old woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies said she cut a man’s throat while he was sitting in his car.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded to a malicious mischief call at the Willow Creek Apartments at 1 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found a man with stab wounds. He was reportedly sitting in his car — parked outside the apartment complex — when an arm reached in through the open window and cut him across his neck with a knife. The man tried to move his car when the suspect reached back inside in an attempt to cut him again. Deputies said the man was able to get the knife away from the suspect, who then left the scene.

The man suffered minor injuries to the neck.

While talking to the victim, authorities said Ester J. Mitchell left her apartment armed with a butcher knife and approached the deputy. However, she immediately dropped the knife once she was instructed to do so.

Ester was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of 1st-degree assault.
