The deputies were nearing the end of a traffic stop on SW 185th north of Blanton when the crash happened, the sheriff’s office said. An arrested woman was in the back of the patrol car when it was hit from behind by the truck.
One deputy managed to get out of the way. But the other deputy was hit and thrown about 6 feet.
The deputy, who has been with the department about 14 months and is also a National Guard member, was taken by ambulance for treatment. Officials later said she is now home and recovering.
The arrested woman in the back of the patrol car was not injured, authorities said.
Beaverton police rushed to the scene and arrested the man driving the truck, later identified as Anthony Moreno. Washington County Sheriff’s Office tweeted the truck driver was drunk at the time of the crash.
