As a journalist for KOIN 6, Brent Weisberg primarily concentrates on law enforcement and criminal court reporting.
Brent joined KOIN 6 in 2012 as a reporter for the CBS affiliate’s morning show, which airs Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. For nearly four years, Brent reported at another Portland television station that hired him in 2008 — months after he graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. with a degree in communication.
The Pacific Northwest is Brent’s new home, but he was raised in Minneapolis, Minn. where he got his start at Northwest Community Television. The station’s management allowed him to be their news intern for three summers as he attended WSU and eventually let him become a freelance reporter before he moved west.
Brent has contributed to breaking news and in-depth coverage on several major stories including the bombing of an Oregon bank, Oregon’s wildfire season, the disappearance of Kyron Horman, the shootings at Reynolds High School, Clackamas Town Center and Umpqua Community College, among other stories.
In his spare time, Brent goes skiing in the Cascades, running in the city and hiking throughout the Pacific Northwest as often as possible.
If you have a story idea, a news tip you’d like Brent to investigate or if you’d like to just say “hello,” don’t hesitate to contact him.
