I was born in Oakland, CA….lived in Pleasanton, CA until I was 8. That’s when my family decided to relocate to the north Oregon coast. Warrenton to be exact. I’m 1 of 5 kids (4 boys). I’m always telling my sister Melissa that she’s always been “my favorite sister.”
My mom and biological father were both in the entertainment industry. They were both musicians. My mom was a singer that traveled across the US. She had incredible stories. She used to hang with the “Rat Pack.” And Elvis Presley always used to “court” my mom at various venues in Vegas. My biological father was the original bass player for the pioneers of Rock N Roll– Bill Haley and The Comets. His name was Marshall Lytle (later became Tommy Page).
My wife and I have been together since 2004. We have 3 kids — 2 boys & a girl — all under age 6. Yikes! (which is what everybody says).
Between stops at KPTV and KGW, I was the TV Studio Host for the Portland Trail Blazers for 6 seasons. An experience that I’ll never forget. While I am a rabid A’s and Raiders fan (it’s the Oakland in me), I NEVER became a Warriors fan. Around 1981 I became a huge fan of the Blazers….and that fandom hasn’t wavered one bit.
As a kid, I always admired the people that preceded me in Portland. I wanted to be the next Ed Whelan or Rick Metsger. Sometimes when you set your mind to something, you become hellbent on making it become reality. That was me. But honestly, I couldn’t do what I do in any other TV market. It’s because I’m passionate about the teams here in Oregon. I hope that shines through each night when you watch our broadcasts.
As a young kid, I used to write letters to EVERY sports team asking them to sign the trading cards I enclosed. What I got in return were incredible items that I’ve turned into a pretty awesome mancave, if I do say so myself.
I also dabbled in working on the many different movies shot on the north coast. Including as a featured extra in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, as well as Free Willy & Goonies.
