PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to sell a rare bicycle online, according to court documents.

Joshua Lee Tellez is charged with first-degree theft and felony computer crime. He was arrested by Portland Police on Sunday and booked into Multnomah County Detention Center.

The victim reportedly told police someone broke into her detached garage on the 4200 block of SE 67th Avenue. She said 3 bicycles and some power tools were missing.

One of the bikes was valued at $1,400, according to police.

The woman checked Craigslist a few hours later and found a post listing her bike for sale. She worked with police to set up a controlled buy, records show.

She agreed to meet with Tellez at a grocery store in Southeast Portland. Tellez told police he bought the bike on Craigslist 2 weeks ago for $200 and knew “that it was worth a lot more so he decided to sell it,” according to court documents.

Tellez kept changing his story when confronted by police, court documents show. When officers asked Tellez for a description of the person who reportedly sold him the bike he told police he did not have one.

Tellez appeared in court on Monday where a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
