Castronovo, 50, was originally booked on assault, coercion and menacing charges on June 16 after Salem police were called to his home. He reportedly refused to come out of the house, but once officers came inside he surrendered.

Prosecutors allege Castronovo texted the woman 122 times and called her 35 times while under a court order not to contact her.

Among the text messages: “I love you,” “I hate you,” and “I’m going to kill myself.”

In seeking the minimum bail, his attorney said Castronovo has no previous history of abuse.

The judge ruled Castronovo poses a threat to the woman and ruled there would be no bail.At another hearing on July 1, Castronovo was again denied bail. His next scheduled court appearance is July 7.
