KEIZER, Ore. (KOIN) — A 21-year-old man who crashed his car in a Keizer parking lot Monday night was shot to death, police said.
Oscar Martinez died of a gunshot wound, an autopsy on Tuesday revealed.
Investigators called to the scene on Jorie Lane Northeast just off Chemawa Road near I-5 found Martinez dead in a minivan in a lot surrounded by fast-food restaurants at Keizer Station around 8:30 p.m.
He was found dead inside a tan Chrysler minivan. But investigators immediately said his death was not consistent with the evidence at the crash scene.

KOIN 6 News spoke with a woman Tuesday afternoon at a Salem apartment who said she is Martinez’ mother. She was in tears as she spoke off-camera about her 21-year-old son.
She said Monday he took the family’s minivan to run an errand and said he’d be back in 5 minutes. But he never returned.
She said her son was a nice guy and family person who helped take care of his mom and loved bringing the family pizza.
One of his friends told KOIN 6 News Martinez attended McKay High School at one point.
Authorities do not believe there is any threat to the public. It remains an active and ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Keizer PD Detective Arsen Avetisyan at 503.390.3713.
