SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A couple of years ago, Andrew said Abel Raymond Nanez was a good kid.

“But just these last 6 months, he’s been on one,” Andrew said. “He won’t get off.”

Earlier this month, Nanez allegedly went after Andrew. Keizer Police said Nanez, 25, stole Andrew’s Ford Escort.

“I knew exactly who took it,” Andrew said. “There was nothing we could do.”

Then, last week, just after midnight, Nanez was spotted driving Andrew’s Ford Escort. A chase ensued. Eventually, police were able to stop the car with spike strips. But Nanez didn’t stop. Police said he ran and even attempted to get into another car that was stopped due to police activity. A Keizer PD K-9 eventually caught up to him, bit him and held him until police could take him into custody.

Andrew said Nanez was wanted on drug and gun charges, as well.

Eventually, Andrew got his car back. Inside the car, Andrew found a lot of stolen items that weren’t his.

“I found meth, I found scales,” Andrew said. “I turned in to the police department today a huge envelope of credit cards, blank checks, people’s credit card bills, bank statements.”

Andrew said the whole situation is infuriating. He said Nanez will keep living a life of crime unless he faces consequences.

On Monday afternoon, Salem Police said Nanez was arrested again. This time he was the passenger inside of a reported stolen vehicle. He is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Keizer Police said he had previously been released for other charges due to a release agreement.

As of Monday night, Nanez was not listed in the online jail roster.

“Bro, you got to get it right,” Andrew said. “I mean this is crazy. He does it to everybody.

“I feel sorry for the next victim because he’ll take everyhting.”
