PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday to authorize a grant application for police body cameras.
The application will ask for $2 million from the Department of Justice to help Portland police implement a body camera program. The program is a requirement — coming off a settlement with the DOJ from fall 2021.
Both the bureau and Portland Police Association have previously expressed support for body-worn cameras.
