PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Rose Festival’s main event is happening Saturday morning and hundreds of thousands are expected to flock downtown to watch.

The Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade will pass through Portland starting at 10 a.m. from Memorial Coliseum.

Flower-covered floats, marching bands and more will be featured in the parade.

The parade starts at Memorial Coliseum and ends at Lincoln High School. Along the way, it travels down Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., over the Burnside Bridge and through downtown Portland.

Officials urge people hoping to catch the parade to use TriMet to get around. The parade runs through 2 p.m., so getting around by car may be a challenge.

TriMet will have six extra MAX trains running but there will also be delays and detours. Bus lines 4,12, 15, 17, 19, 20, 24, 35, 44, 54 and 56 will be detoured from the start of service and line 6 will be detoured starting at 7:30 a.m.

Officials also recommend finding a Park and Ride lot further out because the ones closer to downtown full up faster.
