PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The beloved food carts that were forced out of their home on SW Alder Street have found a new home.
Friends of the Green Loop said about 30 carts will move to Ankeny Square, which is about 3 blocks from their original pod.
Some infrastructure changes will need to happen before the food carts can be moved out of storage, but the idea is for the carts to line the block of SW Ankeny between SW Park and SW 8th Avenue.
Public and private donations, including $25,000 from Travel Portland, made the move possible. The group said more donations are still needed and a GoFundMe has been set up for anyone who wants to help.
The food carts cleared out on July 1 to make way for construction on a Ritz-Carleton hotel.
