PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One armed robbery suspect is dead and two others are seriously hurt after authorities said they tried to flee and crashed their car.
Oregon State Police said troopers found a car reported stolen out of Eugene on I-5 near Albany shortly before 6:30 p.m. The car and the occupants were also suspected of being involved in multiple armed robberies in the Eugene area.
The car fled as troopers attempted to perform a traffic stop. However, the car lost control on Hochspeier Road near the intersection of Jefferson Highway milepost 1 and rolled several times.
Oregon State Police said 30-year-old Amber Mosey of St. Helens died at the scene while 31-year-old Carmen Lewis and 35-year-old Christopher Arrington were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The Eugene Police Department has launched a criminal investigation into the car’s occupants for the armed robberies while Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
