PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Seven guns were taken off the streets of Portland in the span of three days, police confirmed.

When police arrested Elijah Laray Thomas on December 7, they located a loaded handgun within his reach inside the vehicle he was stopped in. Thomas is a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms.

On December 8, as part of the investigation into Thomas, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6000 block of Northeast 33rd Circle in Vancouver. A rifle and a shotgun were seized as evidence.

The next day, on Dec. 9, police arrested three teens during a traffic stop and recovered three guns. Marcus Rudolph, 18; Virgil Adams, 19, and a 16-year-old boy are all charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm.

On December 10, officers assigned to the Gang Enforcement Team, arrested two 16-year-old boys after a traffic pursuit ended at Northeast 13th Avenue and Emerson Street when the driver got wedged between a pole and a tree.

The passenger, according to police, was found to have a loaded handgun in his coat pocket resulting in an arrest on gun charges.

KOIN 6 News does not identify minors who are not charged under the state’s Ballot Measure 11 statues.
