SALEM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A man connected to a 2003 Portland murder is now accused of raping a Salem neighbor, officials said.
Cory Robert Dennison, 31, was arrested two weeks ago in Salt Lake City after allegedly fleeing Oregon following the attack last year, Marion County Sheriff’s Office said. He appeared in court Monday and was arraigned on several sex abuse charges.
KOIN 6 News has learned Dennison was part of a 13-member street “family” charged with assaulting and killing Jessica Kate Williams along the Willamette River 12 years ago.
While Dennison was never charged in her death, he was charged with assault and kidnapping. He plead guilty to assault by reason of insanity and was sentenced to time in the Oregon State Hospital.
It is unclear how long he stayed at the hospital.
On July 6, 2014, Dennison allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Marion County, court documents revealed. He was formally charged with rape, sodomy and unlawful sexual penetration in court Monday.
Dennison was originally arrested in Salt Lake City on March 7. He was then taken to Marion County Jail where he is currently being held without bail.
His next court appearance is scheduled for April 8.
