OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN) — After a 2-week trial in Clackamas County, a woman was found guilty of causing the death of a 7-month-old in her care in 2015.
Sarah Martin killed Izaak Gillen on April 6, 2015. The judge in the case rejected her claims the child may have choked on a snack.
The 38-year-old was indicted by a grand jury on May 6, 2015. Martin was babysitting Izaak on April 6 when paramedics responded to a call that the boy stopped breathing. The baby died at a hospital the following day, and police say he suffered a fractured skull while in Martin’s care.
She will be sentenced May 17.
