HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN) — Two pedestrians were hit by a car and one was killed Saturday night in Hillsboro, officials said.

The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. on Northeast Cornell Road and Northeast 17th Avenue. Hillsboro police said a white van was traveling south on Northeast 17th Avenue, stopped at a stop sign and turned left onto Northeast Cornell Road while a man and a woman were crossing.

The van hit both pedestrians and drove away without stopping, officials said. The woman, Marjorie Averill, died at the scene. The Beaverton resident was 38.

The man, Timothy Mahan, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Early Sunday morning, Hillsboro police said they located the van that has a dark-colored graphic decal along its driver’s side. There is a person of interest identified and the investigation is ongoing.
