PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 16-year-old driving a Corvette was involved in a crash that left his passenger dead plus a mom and her 2 children injured Friday morning.
Shortly before 10 a.m., Clark County investigators said the speeding Corvette was headed north on NE 212th when its right front hit the left front of a turning Jeep Cherokee. That collision sent both the Corvette and the Jeep off the road, as the Corvette sheared a utility pole and caught fire.
Bystanders rushed to the scene and put out the fire with extinguishers and removed the occupants of the cars.

The passenger in the Corvette, 50-year-old Benjamin Andrews, died at the scene. The teen driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. Both are from Brush Prairie.
The 39-year-old mom and her kids, 6 and 9, were also taken to a hospital for treatment. The Camas residents are expected to recover.
According to Clark County Sheriff’s Office, speed was a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
