PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries in a Thursday night crash at NE Sandy Boulevard and NE Lawrence Avenue, police said.
Officers said the woman was walking across NE Sandy when she was hit by an SUV traveling west at about 5:30 p.m.
The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Officers said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
A witness told KOIN 6 News the woman was in a crosswalk when she was hit. Others reported seeing her lying unconscious on the ground.
NE Sandy Boulevard was closed in both directions between NE Randall Avenue and NE 25th Avenue. It reopened a couple of hours later.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Traffic Division started an investigation into the crash.
No further details have been released. It wasn’t clear if the driver of the SUV would be cited.
