PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man whose car had a mechanical problem on the Marquam Bridge was hit by a driver who was later arrested for DUII.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. Monday on northbound I-5. Portland police said, and shut down the Marquam Bridge for nearly 6 hours. The man had gotten out of his car to address the issue when he was hit by a vehicle.

The driver, identified as Aldrin Roda Barraquio, stayed at the scene and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. His name has not been released.

Originally investigators said Barraquio was driving a semi-truck but later clarified the vehicle was a pick-up with a trailer.

Barraquio, 31, was arrested and booked at the Multnomah County Jail for DUII, 2nd-degree assault and reckless driving.

Northbound I-5 re-opened for traffic shortly before noon.
