PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person died, five people were injured, and one person left the scene of a crash on Interstate-5 Saturday morning.
The highway has since reopened to traffic, but Oregon State Police are still continuing with their investigation into the deadly crash south of Woodburn. Troopers and emergency responders were called out to the scene of a four-car collision at milepost 269 just after 4 a.m. Saturday.
OSP said their preliminary investigation found that 23-year-old Valeria Villasenor-Sibrian was driving a black Mazda south on the interstate when it rear-ended a Toyota Scion that 24-year-old Artemio Davila was driving.
Davila’s car went off the roadway, under the cable barrier on the highway’s median, and into oncoming traffic. The Scion was then struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Vanessa Underwood, 55, who was driving north at the time. A Dodge pickup truck that was also driving north hit the Santa Fe.
Davila was pronounced dead at the scene, said OSP. There was a passenger in his car who got out of the car and left on foot, and has not yet been found.
Five people were taken to the Salem Hospital. OSP said three of those five had serious injuries.

All northbound lanes of the I-5 outside Woodburn were closed for approximately six hours. The crash site was cleared and reopened to traffic around 10:30 a.m.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
