PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Traffic has been intermittently jammed on Highway 26 eastbound Thursday after two crashes happened in Hillsboro, including one that sent a person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue responded to that crash around 8:30 a.m. Thursday near the Cornelius Pass Road exit.
One person was extricated from a car that appeared to be mangled from crashing into a tree, according to a photos shared to Twitter from HF&R and Hillsboro Police.
The person was not immediately identified, but their injuries are considered life-threatening. Authorities did not immediately release further details on the crash.
Hillsboro police said another separate crash occurred on Hwy 26 eastbound, but didn’t offer further details on it either.
An interactive map and traffic cameras from ODOT showed a jam on the highway near Helvetia Road, but that traffic has apparently since cleared. According to TripCheck, the eastbound off-ramp at Cornelius Pass Road is closed as of 11:10 a.m.
