PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person is dead and another is in custody after a hit-and-run in Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood on Tuesday.
Kenlly Leyvachi, 41, was booked in the Multnomah County Detention Center and charged with first-degree manslaughter, reckless driving and hit and run.
Police say the crash occurred just after 1:30 p.m. at Northeast 100th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. Officers arrived to find a pedestrian dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle.
According to police, Leyvachi was driving a truck with a flatbed trailer and hit a man riding an electric bike before fleeing from the area. The truck was located a short time later and Leyvachi was promptly arrested.
