PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One man suffered life-threatening wounds and 3 people were arrested after a stabbing in Southwest Portland very late Wednesday night.

The stabbing happened in the 100 block of SW Broadway just before midnight, Portland police said. When officers got to the scene they found the man had been stabbed 5 times. His name has not yet been released.

The 3 suspects — Ramon Coy Jr., 22, Santana Duran, 19, and 16-year-old Josue Coy — were found nearby and all were arrested. Police said a knife was found.

Police aren’t saying whether the suspects and the victim knew each other or what the motive for the stabbing may have been.

A man who lives nearby told KOIN 6 News he’s not surprised by the violence in this area.

“So much goes on around here, to be honest with you. I’ve seen, like, 3 people be stabbed here, you know. I’ve seen shootings out here just around the corner in the back, like. I’ve first-hand seen this stuff,” Angel Arguello said. “It’s been crazy around here.”

Ramon Coy was booked on charges of assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and a warrant for escape from the Washington State Corrections. He failed to report to his community corrections officer in Yakima, KOIN 6 News learned. His convictions are drug related.

Duran, who was recently convicted of robbery and assault, faces an assault charge. At Duran’s home in Fairview, his sister told KOIN 6 News she’s surprised to hear about the case against him. She said he’s a good kid who attends an alternative school.

Josue Coy also faces an assault charge.
