PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A manhunt for “a wanted felon” was suspended after about 7 hours in an area west of Rainier the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.
The felon, Kevin Reynolds, was believed to be in the area of Heath Road and Old Rainier Road, the sheriff’s office posted on their official Facebook page around 4 p.m.
Just after 11 p.m., Sheriff Brian Pixley said in a statement they completed a search of buildings, homes and property in the area and “have no reason to believe the suspect is still in the area.”
Though the search was suspended, officials said Reynolds is still considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
The St. Helens Police Department, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police were also involved in the search.
Drones and flash bangs were used in the search for Reynolds. The Oregon State Police used loud speakers to tell him to surrender.
It’s unclear what led to this search for Reynolds. But the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office told KOIN 6 News Reynolds now faces a kidnapping charge along with a number of other recent charges.
Since August court records show there have been multiple warrants out for Reynolds’ arrest, including for robbery, assault, vehicle theft and witness intimidation.
In October, Cowlitz County deputies searched fr the 41-year-old but weren’t able to find him at that time.
