PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two men armed with a weapon robbed a woman at a Beaverton consignment store on Sunday before fleeing on foot and stealing a car, Beaverton police said.
The two suspects are still at large.
Beaverton police officers responded to a parking lot in the 10100 block of Southwest Allen Boulevard at 5:45 p.m., after a woman reported the robbery.
Shortly after the robbery, a carjacking was reported about a mile away. A 2007 green Mitsubishi Lancer — Oregon license 800EMJ — was stolen and a person was injured.
That car belonged to a 79-year-old woman, according to her son. He said his mother was backing out of a driveway when the two men yanked her out of the car and took off. She was left with a broken arm, her son told KOIN 6 News.
The stolen car was recovered Monday, according to police.
A woman who lived at the Hidden Village Mobile Homes said she was walking her dog when Beaverton police officers looked for the suspects.
“If they are coming in there and they have an assault riffles out and everything that they are seriously looking for someone with kids in the house, it is kind of frightening,” the woman said.
Here’s how Beaverton police described the two suspects:
- Suspect #1 was described as a Hispanic male under 30 years of age wearing a black rain jacket, black jeans and black cap.
- Suspect #2 was described as a African American male under 30 years of age, thin build wearing dark glasses, a gray hoodie, and dark sweat pants.
While no arrests have been made, Beaverton police officers are confident they’ll find the suspects.
“We throw a lot of resources at problems that we deem are community issues,” Jeremy Shaw with Beaverton Police said, “and having car jacking and having robbery in our community, those are community issues and we need to solve those as quickly as we possibly can.”
