PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A fist fight at a Southeast Portland Chevron station likely over a woman left the current boyfriend with multiple stab wounds and the ex-boyfriend in jail.

The stabbing happened around 6:45 p.m. March 16 in the 6400 block of SE 129th Place, Portland police said. Documents obtained by KOIN 6 News revealed the victim, Noor Ahmed, was stabbed in the neck, chin, stomach and back. His girlfriend, Nat’e Arnold, was trying to stop the bleeding.

A witness told police the stabber was Arnold’s ex-boyfriend, Ivory Joe Watkins, known as “Ira Noble” and “Pooky.” Watkins, the witness said, used a fixed-blade knife to stab Ahmed and then drove off in a blue SUV.

Investigators learned the incident began at the Chevron station at SE 122nd and Foster where Ahmed and Watkins got into a fight. Surveillance video showed Watkins, in a gray hat, punched Ahmed in the head to start the fight. Arnold ran in, broke it up and then they drove away.

But Watkins was following them and Arnold accidentally turned onto SE 129th, which is a dead end. Ahmed got out of the car and was stabbed very quickly, documents said.

A video of the attack was found by investigators, who said “a knife is clearly visible” in Watkins’ right hand.

Arnold, documents say, later went to Watkins residence at SE 128th and Ellis. Police arrived, spotted the blue SUV and ordered Watkins to come out of the house. He surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody around 2:20 a.m. March 17.

Ahmed’s injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening but he is now expected to recover.

Watkins, 43, is being held on a 1st-degree assault charge.
