PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man has been arrested after police say he fired a gun during a stolen vehicle arrest in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.

Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Portland Police Bureau responded to a report of a suspected stolen white Ford van along the 11300 block of Southeast Foster Road.

On the scene, PPB found people inside the van and as police tried to contact the occupants, a man got out and tried to run away. PPB said as they tried to detain the suspect, he resisted and fired a gun shot.

Police noted no one was hit and they seized a semi-automatic handgun as evidence.

Officials said that suspect is in police custody, however they will not release his name until he is charged with a crime.

SE Foster Road is closed between SE 111th Avenue and SE 122nd Avenue as police investigate.
