PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland novelist accused of murdering her husband was indicted on one count of murder with a firearm constituting domestic violence.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office said Nancy Crampton Brophy, 68, is accused of using a 9 mm pistol to kill her husband Daniel Brophy on June 2, 2018.
Brophy was found dead in his classroom at the Oregon Culinary Institute, where he was a beloved instructor.
Crampton Brophy wrote an essay titled “How to Murder Your Husband” in 2011. In it, she lists 5 motives for the crime.
The probable cause affidavit for her arrest has been sealed by the DA’s office. She will be arraigned on Sept. 17, 2018.
