PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A traffic stop kept getting worse for Tyler Alvis after a deputy noticed an assault rifle in his back seat late Thursday night in Northeast Salem.
Not only did the deputy seize the rifle, but he learned Alvis had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Deputies swept the car, finding a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat along with a small amount of meth.
Alvis is already a convicted felon and on parole out of Marion County for heroin charges. Now the 28-year-old is facing charges for the firearms, possession of meth, theft, and parole violations.
Alvis is set to be arraigned at 3 p.m. on August 30 at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex.
